Artist Spotlight with Khamari

Written by Riley Furey

Khamari is somewhat of a mysterious figure in the up and coming music space, and today I wanted to compile what I've learned about him to put you onto one of the most exciting artists out right now.

The predominantly R&B leaning act was born and raised around Boston, which eventually led to him enrolling, and later dropping out of, Berklee's College of Music. And while it may seem like the best move is to finish classes at such a prestigious university, it tends to benefit a lot musicians who don't finish their tenure – most notably including John Mayer, Lizzy McAlpine, and Noah Levine (Noah Kahan's Guitarist & Budding Solo Act).

A lot of the time when I'm putting someone onto an artist, it takes a lot of convincing before they bite. But with Khamari, the groundwork is nearly complete. Whether it was A COLORS SHOW and VEVO DSVR touting him to be up next this past year, or Tyler the Creator booking him for Camp Flognaw, it's clear that he is not lacking in the cosign department.

All that's left for you to do is to catch up before Khamari reaches the masses, and I can assure you, that will be sooner rather than later. For recommendations on where to start, Doctor, My Eyes feels like Odd Future reincarnate, and songs like Drifting seek to express how talented the Boston native truly is.
