Today, we’re shining a bright light on New York’s own Jared Benjamin and his newly released project Oxygen, which dropped on April 4. Serving as the debut EP from the emerging singer-songwriter, Oxygen showcases a clear sense of vision and artistic maturity. Its overall coherence and structure reflect just how ready Benjamin was to deliver a project of this caliber.
Following the release of two lead singles, Benjamin unveiled four brand-new tracks, rounding out the EP at six songs total, with a runtime just shy of 15 minutes. Across this compact collection, Benjamin’s lyrical depth and emotional nuance shine. He proves himself to be a remarkable storyteller, evoking poignant feelings through heartfelt lyricism and relatable narratives. Paired with infectious and captivating melodies, Oxygen manages to be as catchy as it is moving.
Firmly planted in the popular folk lane, Benjamin leans into warm guitar strums and evocative storytelling. Yet there’s something distinctly his own about this project — a level of sincerity and authenticity that sets it apart. Oxygen is a breath of fresh air in today’s pop landscape, and it feels like only the beginning. With this debut, Benjamin positions himself as an artist to watch, and it seems only a matter of time before he follows it up with a full-length album.
We’re excited to continue charting his growth and evolution.
