Nick Folwarczny - I'll Be Gone (Review)

Written by Riley Furey

The Ohio folk scene has been burgeoning over the past decade, and Nick Folwarczny is one of the most promising acts coming in at the ground level right now. His most recent song "I'll Be Gone," enlisted help from rising folk royalty, and I'll get into all of that and more below.

If you're a fan of Noah Kahan, then you almost certainly will be a fan of Nick Folwarczny — partially in part to the fact that Phin Choukas co-produced this single, and he also co-produced Cape Elizabeth, Noah Kahan's EP containing fan favorite single, "Maine." Not only that, but additional vocals were added by Hans Williams (one of my favorite folk acts out right now), as well as by another one of Hans' frequent collaborators and fellow budding folk act, Lyla George.

"I'll Be Gone," is Folwarczny's third single of 2024, and it continues on a path of sheer quality. The track contains a multitude of layers like we're used to seeing in Nick's production, and serves as an anthem for knowing what you deserve out of a romantic relationship.

It's hard to constantly follow up the expectations that follow after opening up for artists like Brenn! and Hans Williams, but Nick simply has not slowed down. I'm a firm believer that pressure makes diamonds, and Folwarczny is a diamond in the rough, becoming more and more polished with each passing day.
