For my inaugural piece with Sauce, it felt right to cover the artist that I would put my closest friends onto right now. With that said, Petra by Weston Estate should be at the top of all of your playlists if you care at all about having a cutting edge music taste.
By no means is Weston Estate new to the scene, but it’s evident to me that not enough people are talking about them like they should be. The North Carolina formed group hasn’t been releasing music as consistently lately, but what they have released is pure gold. Petra blends reverberating 808’s with a touch of pop-bliss, and has been one of my favorite songs to drop this year so far.
I’ve been waiting for the band to have their ultra-viral moment for years now, and considering the fact that they recently managed to land a placement on a Netflix show, I must not be the only one paying attention. Weston Estate has been laying a sturdy foundation of timeless music since their 2019 debut that received a placement on Spotify’s Fresh Finds, and I have a feeling that they have barely scratched the surface of the success to come.
